My Education, Training, and Experience:
I earned my undergraduate degree in social work (BSW) in 2013. During that year, I completed an internship working with children and teen girls in group settings at local public schools. The following year I completed my master’s degree in social work (MSW) at Walla Walla University. During my master’s education, I worked with teens, children, and families in a therapy setting using Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Positive Parenting techniques. I also worked in parenting education on both a group and individual/family basis, and volunteered in 2014 and 2015 in a local after-school program focused on support and community for LGBTQ+ teens. From 2014-2019, I worked as an individual and group therapist for adults in a community mental health setting. I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in the State of Washington (License Number: LW60812050).
My Treatment Modality and Therapeutic Orientation:
I have a warm, person-centered approach to therapy, combined with a theoretical orientation in Cognitive Behavior Therapy-based skills. I strongly believe that as the client, you are the expert on yourself, and that you already possess the capacity within you to grow and find healing. My role as a therapist is to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space for you to be heard and learn new skills to reach your goals.
My interests in therapy at this time are working with clients age 16+ struggling with issues of anxiety, depression, interpersonal problems, and individuals struggling with issues of gender identity/sexuality, grief, and adjustment to life changes.
